SUNYA is a flutist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Based in the Tampa Bay Area, her sound can be described as a blend of world music, trip-hop and natural sounds embellished with improvisational flute melodies. With a soothing yet dynamic presence, SUNYA is recognized for the many instruments she plays which compliment her flute melodies, including hand-pan, guitar, frame drum, synth, vocals all delicately layered around captivating flute lines that draw her listeners in. SUNYA has established her freelancing path as a flute player and multi-instrumentalist who weaves together layers of sound using ‘live-looping’ . She has recorded music with numerous local favorites as well as international groups. Sunya performs around the Tampa Bay Area, boasting appearances at the East West Music Festival, and as a highlighted artist at the Beats on the Street Music Festival in the Water’s Street District of Tampa which was headlined by Tank and the Bangas. Beginning in 2024, she has released a new single each month on the new moon, as part of her ‘New Moon Series’, which currently includes 10 songs. This has inspired several diverse collaborations, culminating in the creation of her first debut album soon to be released. Musical influences include Bonobo, Moonchild, Herbie Hancock, Kruangbin and flute players, Jorge Pardo, Herbie Mann, Greg Pattillo, and Ian Anderson of “Jethro Tull”.
