Chris White

About Chris White “DaGeneral” Chris White aka “DaGeneral” is an American Hip Hop Artist/Producer/Businessman from of Kinston, NC. Chris founded Wiyh?Records in July of 2008. Chris White is a lyrical veteran who began rapping when he was only ten years old. From age 10-13 Chris was strictly a freestyle rapper who could rap about anything off the top of his head and never repeat the same line twice. He became well known on the underground hip hop circuit in Eastern North Carolina and by the age of 20 he had opened up for such acts as Rakim of the legendary group Eric-B and Rakim (In Atlanta, GA) at a club called the Warehouse as well as opening up for Raekwon the Chef of the Wu-Tang Clan and Jay-Z when they performed in Greenville, NC back in the mid 1990’s. During that time Chris went by the name of Crème De La Crème a term he had picked up in government economics class in high school. Chris had ended one of his battle rhymes with the words: “I’m best of the best, Crème De La Crème” and from that point on everyone that knew him called him Crème so he just kept the name. Chris dedicated his life to Christ in his early 20s and took a sabbatical from the music business and stopped performing and using the name Creme from that point on. Chris had grown up in a Christian family and believed in GOD but refused to serve Him, because of the hypocrisy that he saw in those who went to church. His father was a preacher but was never really a part of his life, because Chris’ parents had divorced when he was only two years old. Growing up in poverty in a single parent home among other things caused Chris to resist and resent GOD and want no parts with the church or religion. Music had basically become Chris’ god and he was consumed with trying to make it in the music industry. By the time Chris was twenty one years old he had a baby on the way. GOD convicted Chris in his heart, and he felt he had to follow God to set the example for his unborn child. A war had begun in Chris’ spirit as he began to read and believe the bible. And one night Chris finally surrendered totally to the LORD. Chris laid the microphone down and vowed not to pick it up again unless GOD himself revealed that to be HIS Will. Since that time GOD has matured Chris in HIS WORD and Chris now understands that everything belongs to God, and music is justt a tool that can be used for either good or bad. Chris thought the name Crème De La Crème was too prideful and dropped that as his stage name. In a similar way as Crème was giving to him, he received a new name when he wrote, “It’s brother Chris the General, Praising GOD/I come through yelling like a Seminole…” In that verse Chris was saying that as a believer he would be a leader. If no one else would praise or live for GOD he would be the one to lead by example. Today Chris uses Hip Hop Music as a tool to open doors of opportunity to share the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST with all those who are willing to receive. Chris has rapped in the streets, in night clubs, at festivals, in concerts, in prisons, churches and where ever the doors of opportunity have opened. Chris goes after the very ones who turned their backs on him when he chose to follow Christ and sacrifice his musical aspirations. For Chris giving up the music he loved was like when Abraham had offered up his only son Isaac to GOD. But GOD had a ram in the bush and gave the music back to Chris. Now Chris uses his talents to serve GOD and to serve GOD’s people. For GOD so loved the world that HE gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in HIM should not perish but have everlasting life. Chris is not only a musical talent but a preacher and teacher of the WORD as well. Chris uses a combination of music, poetry, charismatic teaching and personal testimony all sprinkled with a dash of comedy to keep his audience captivated. Whether he chooses to use a witty metaphor or the testimony of him surviving being struck by lightning at the age of 14 “DaGeneral” uses all the tools in his rucksack to win souls for Christ. His record label is WIYH? RECORDS, which stands for what’s in your hand? It is Chris Fundamental belief that GOD has given everyone a gift or talent for two reasons: #1 to build people up and #2 to prosper with themselves.
